Danish vs. Dutch Work Culture—What Stands Out?
Having lived and worked in both Denmark and the Netherlands, Morten has noticed some interesting cultural nuances.
“There are actually more similarities than differences. Both Danish and Dutch cultures value directness, but the Dutch take it to the next level. Here, people don’t shy away from addressing problems head-on—even if it means calling someone out. But it’s always done respectfully and constructively, which leads to more effective discussions and decisions. I really appreciate that.”
How Morten’s Skills and Experience Will Make a Difference
With experience in both the technical and product development sides of software engineering, Morten is ready to make an impact at Madaster.
“My work on PIM systems is quite similar to Madaster’s material registry—it’s all about structuring and managing data efficiently. When you handle data well, you unlock powerful insights,” he explains. “Plus, my academic background emphasized user experience (UX), stakeholder engagement, and product strategy. This helps me bridge the gap between the technical team and our UX designer to ensure the platform is as intuitive and effective as possible.”
Why Madaster?
As a software engineer, Morten had plenty of career paths to choose from—but he wanted his work to contribute to something bigger.
“I wanted to use my skills to create a positive impact. Madaster is making a real difference in the sustainability and built environment sectors. When I first saw the platform, I thought, ‘This is something exciting, something that can grow and have a tangible impact across multiple countries.’ That’s exactly the kind of project I want to be part of.”
Morten’s Hobbies and Interests Beyond the Code
When he’s not building software, Morten enjoys exploring new culinary experiences.
“I’m a bit of a foodie. I love challenging myself to cook dishes from different cultures. When I travel, one of the best ways to experience a place is through its food.”
He also enjoys bouldering, playing piano and guitar (though he hasn’t brought his instruments to the Netherlands just yet), and is currently learning Chinese in his spare time.
Looking Ahead—Morten’s Vision at Madaster
Morten is eager to contribute to making the Madaster platform even more powerful, user-friendly, and impactful.
“With my technical expertise and product development experience, I hope to help refine and expand the platform while ensuring a seamless user experience. I’m excited to be part of a company that’s leading change in the built environment—and I can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together.”
Welcome to Madaster, Morten! We’re looking forward to seeing the impact you’ll make.
