A Streamlined Workflow for DMA2 Compliance
1. Generate A1–A5 baselines with minimal inputs
Using the Urban Mining Screener, teams can create credible embodied-carbon baselines from:
- location
- floor area
- asset type
- construction year
These baselines meet the level of detail required under DMA2 and work for both individual assets and portfolio-level analysis.
2. Refine results when more project data is available
Where additional data exists, such as material quantities, construction specifications or EPDs, teams can strengthen and update the baseline. This keeps workflows efficient while improving accuracy for assets with richer information.
3. Export GRESB-ready evidence
Madaster produces:
- A1–A5 embodied-carbon results
- outputs aligned with DMA2 reporting structure
- transparent, traceable evidence packages
If an asset is already modelled in Madaster, the embodied-carbon evidence can be exported directly. Additional refinement is optional, not required.
How Different Stakeholders Use This
Owners and Institutional Investors – Portfolio-Level Carbon Visibility
Madaster enables owners to benchmark assets, model decarbonization scenarios, identify transition risks and align embodied-carbon reporting with EU Taxonomy and other regulatory frameworks. This converts embodied carbon into a strategic performance metric rather than a standalone disclosure.
Fund and Asset Managers – Efficient GRESB Reporting
Managers responsible for GRESB submissions gain a consistent, repeatable workflow for DMA2, with standardized outputs, structured evidence files and easy exports (Excel, PDF, API). This reduces dependency on bespoke LCAs and simplifies annual reporting cycles.
Consultants and Advisory Partners – Scalable, Repeatable Workflows
Consultants can build a repeatable embodied-carbon service for multiple clients using the same workflow. Rapid baselines, consistent modelling and clear evidence packages help deliver value at both asset and portfolio scale.
How Madaster Reduces Complexity
Standardized results aligned with DMA2
Outputs follow GRESB’s structure for upfront carbon reporting, reducing variance across projects, consultants and regions.
Designed for portfolio scale
Baselines produced in seconds allow teams to prepare early, refine progressively, and manage reporting across multiple projects and countries.
Evidence suitable for validation
Results are transparent and traceable, helping teams meet GRESB’s documentation and review expectations as embodied-carbon regulation and audit scrutiny increase.
A unified environment for long-term value
All building data remains in one place, enabling reuse assessments, circularity metrics, ESG dashboards, financial planning and strategic portfolio management. DMA2 becomes part of a wider material and carbon strategy — not an isolated calculation.
Prepare Now for the 2026 GRESB Cycle
The GRESB assessment follows an annual cycle. The portal opens on 1 April, with submissions due by 1 July. Participants receive preliminary results in September, followed by final scores in October.
Teams that prepare now can establish baselines ahead of the new cycle, refine data as projects progress and avoid the pressure of the reporting window. This puts them in a stronger position to submit complete, credible evidence and capture the available points.
Madaster already supports GRESB workflows in seven countries and is used by leading banks, asset owners and fund managers to improve the ease and consistency of embodied-carbon reporting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need real project data?
No. Statistical data is sufficient for a first-step A1–A5 baseline.
Do I need full LCA data?
No. DMA2 requires upfront embodied carbon (A1–A5). Full LCAs are not mandatory for this indicator.
How many points are available?
Up to 5 points under the Development component for new construction.
Are points available for existing portfolios?
DMA2 scoring applies to new buildings from 2025 onward. A benchmark for buildings completed before 2025 is still in development.
Does Madaster work across multiple countries?
Yes. Madaster supports GRESB workflows globally with standardized calculations and evidence outputs.
Has Madaster supported GRESB submissions before?
Yes. Several European funds have submitted GRESB assessments with embodied-carbon evidence generated via Madaster.
