Madaster expands into Austria
In cooperation with real estate developer and operator Value One and engineering and consultancy firm Drees & Sommer, Madaster is expanding to Austria to fuel the transition to a sustainable and circular construction sector. Madaster facilitates the transition with its digital platform for materials and products in the built environment. The Madaster platform is already operational in five European countries and will now also be launched in Austria.
Cadastre of Materials
Madaster registers materials, products, infrastructure, and real estate, just like parcelling and land ownership in a land registry (cadastre). Materials and products are traceable and remain available indefinitely. Madaster allows anyone to create a web-based materials passport of their building(s) or infrastructure object.
“We help construction companies, property developers, architects, engineers, manufacturers and property owners to map out exactly which materials and products are assembled in their properties and documents this centrally on the Madaster platform. This is how we bring the construction sector into a digital future and prepare it for a sustainable circular economy. “- Pablo van den Bosch, Managing Director Madaster
A materials passport contains information about the origin, future scenario and location of materials and provides insight into the circularity and financial (residual) value of a building. The Madaster platform is currently being used actively in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Norway by developers, investors and owners and managers of real estate and infrastructure. As a result, they are immediately well prepared for the EU regulation on taxonomy from 2023.
“The Madaster platform helps make real estate projects ‘circular’, facilitating a shift in thinking in the sector. Because with the right material passport, every building is more than an object to live, work and play in. It becomes a storehouse for raw materials of the future. We want to support this enormous potential and are therefore entering into a strong partnership for innovation and sustainability.”- Andreas Köttl, CEO Value One
Value One, Drees & Sommer and Madaster have taken the initiative to bring the digital materials passport to Austria. Madaster provides the technological platform and Value One and Drees & Sommer contribute with their expertise and network in the Austrian real estate and construction market to make projects ESG-ready before 2023.
Madaster Kennedy Network
The 3 parties will start with the formation of a Madaster Kennedy Network in which organisations will work together to make a difference in the real estate and construction sector. With Value One and Drees & Sommer as the first Kennedy in Austria, a strong start has been made. Madaster Austria GmbH has set itself the goal to further expand this network in the coming months and invites leading Austrian organisations to join. Together with the Madaster team, they will use their experience and the influence of the network to encourage the Austrian market to adopt the circular economy.
